How to update my Usine version

Remember that Usine is a portable application, so when a new version is available here is a method of updating:

Save your setup files

First, be sure to save your global setup, using the menu files in the global setup. This way all your sound card, and directory paths will be saved:

If needed, you can do the same for your master section:

The good use of the personal library

Here a good habit you can adopt: create a repertory outside the Usine one.

Name it as you want, here I’ve name it my library. As you can see I’ve also create several subdirectories with logic and easy to remember names :

In this personal library here what you can add :

  • Your personal patches/workspaces
  • The addons you have downloaded
  • The Usine packs
  • The scripts of users you have found in the forum
  • The users modules
  • Your personal setup files(global, master)

Time to update

Ok, so here is a new version, first unzip all the archive in a new directory. This way you’ll be sure to have all the last modules and updates.

At this point, you can also create a shortcut on your desktop. Just drag and drop (with right click) from the Usine.exe icon and choose create a shortcut :

Import your files

Not always necessary but can be useful: from the old version/files directory you can drag and drop this files:

  • Default-settings.ini
  • WorkSpace.wkp
  • WorkSpace.wkp-old

If needed :

  • Default-Master.master
  • Default-Remote.remote
  • Personal layouts and templates files

Finally, open the new Usine version and load your global setup file and your master file.

And now, time for music.
